The Irish Ambassador to Canada, His Excellency Dr. Eamonn McKee visited Harbour Grace on Tuesday to commemorate the upcoming 90th anniversary of Amelia Earhart’s solo transatlantic flight from the community to Derry, Northern Ireland.
Harbour Grace Mayor Don Coombs says the area has deep ties to Ireland that are only getting stronger with the link through aviation.
He says they are looking to work with municipal officials from across the pond to celebrate that connection they are building upon.
Celebrations will be taking place throughout the weekend at the airstrip
