Fisheries Minister Derrick Bragg says he’ll make a decision on a processing licence for the plant in St. Mary’s in less than a month. But first he wants to know how the licensing board arrived at its recommendation.
Neither the minister nor the board will say what that is.
But Bragg does say the amount of detail he’s received from the board “doesn’t cut it,” adding he wants to discuss their decision further.
Brag was asked if that’s a normal part of the process. He says it will be for him, noting the “three or four sentences” that formed the recommendation are not enough for his liking, adding he wants a more “fulsome conversation” with the board.
Bragg also said while he respects the right to protest, he won’t be swayed or influenced by such demonstrations.
The decision, he insists, will be based on the facts.
