Harvesters are going to be paid less money for snow crab after a decision by the Standing Fish Price Setting Panel and the FFAW isn’t happy.
The union says the panel accepted the Association of Seafood Producers’ proposal of $6.15 per pound instead of the FFAW’s suggestion of $6.55.
Despite volatility in the market, the union does not believe there was sufficient evidence to support the processors’ position.
The association and the union can make one application for price reconsideration each year, and the FFAW expects to exercise its option should the market not reflect the picture painted by the seafood producers.
