One family of ducks can count themselves lucky thanks to an RNC officer who was in the right place at the right time.
A mother duck and her ducklings were traversing busy Water Street in downtown St. John’s yesterday when a few of the babies fell into a storm drain.
That’s when RNC Cst. Manuel Spurrell removed the cover and climbed into the storm drain to rescue the baby ducks.
A video of the rescue was captured by someone in the area. The Constabulary says that saving ducks is not in the job description, but it demonstrates how officers go above and beyond for their communities.
