The company which bought the old west end fire station on LeMarchant Road hopes to expand the building and convert it to an apartment building.
The applicant is proposing to add two floors, increasing the number of storeys to four from two. There would also be horizontal expansion at the rear of the building.
In total, the structure would house 16 units.
Councillor Maggie Burton, who is in charge of heritage, says the proposed design did not meet the St. John’s Heritage by-law standards but she’s confident that the Built Heritage Experts Panel will ensure that the final design will be consistent with those standards.
