The annual “biting fly control program” will soon begin at 5 Wing Goose Bay.
According to the Canadian Armed Forces, the program reduces mosquito and black fly larvae in their habitats before they can emerge as biting adults.
Areas will be treated with an insecticide that selectively kills mosquito and black fly larvae only, and is completely biodegradable in a matter of days.
G.D.G. Environment will carry out the work, and protocols will be in place to prevent exposure to the public. The program, which will begin in the next few weeks, will continue until late August.
