Another airline begins service to western Canada Saturday. Swoop’s inaugural flight from Hamilton lands at Deer Lake, opening up a new market for the west coast. The independent subsidiary of WestJet will create access to western and southwestern Ontario and also provide service to Alberta.
Swoop describes itself as Canada’s ultra low-cost carrier providing affordable air travel.
Tammy Priddle, Airport Authority CEO, says they’re looking forward to establishing a partnership with Swoop and many more opportunities it creates.
Colleen Kennedy, Executive Director of the Gros Morne Cooperation Association, says the new option will benefit both residents and visitors alike as the tourism industry rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Swoop Airlines will be providing twice weekly service to Edmonton through Hamilton as well as twice weekly to Toronto.
