A business group focused on clean growth and development in the province will present its industry awards next week.
Econext, formerly known as the Newfoundland and Labrador Environmental Industry Association, will recognize three organizations or companies and one person during the event set for Tuesday.
The Marine Institute will receive the Cleantech Innovation award while the Business Excellence award will go to Newco Metals and Auto Recycling.
C-CORE, the Centre for Cold Oceans Resources Engineering, will be recognized with the International Business award, while Ashley Smith, managing director of C.B.S.-based Fundamental Inc., is this year’s Industry Champion.
The awards presentations are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Alt Hotel in downtown St. John’s, and will be attended by Environment and Climate Change Minister Bernard Davis.
Econext describes itself as a not-for-profit association of businesses accelerating clean growth in the province on behalf of over 200 members, with an aim to foster environmentally sustainable economic development.
