Protesters gathered outside of Planned Parenthood in St. John’s on Saturday afternoon to advocate for easier access to abortion.

The group was led by pro-choice supporters, with demonstrators carrying signs saying things like “my body, my choice” and “abortion is healthcare”.

Nikki Baldwin, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood NL, says abortion is not easily accessible to anyone outside of St. John’s.

Baldwin says more providers are needed throughout the province. She believes there is no reason why abortions cannot be accessed at any hospital and that doctors should have the ability to prescribe abortion medication.
