The rising cost of living is affecting some people’s ability to volunteer.
That’s according to PC MHA for Cape St. Francis, Joedy Wall.
Wall says this particular impact of the high cost of living was brought to his attention by a man in his district, who, for over 20 years, has been driving cancer patients to appointments free of charge and delivering food hampers to those who need them.
Wall says the man is no longer able to do this due to the cost of gas, which is a sentiment shared by many volunteers who often invest their own money into causes.
He says when volunteers are unable to do their work, the province is going to hurt. He says the effects of the high cost of living goes beyond the gas tank and is having a ripple effect.
Wall is calling on the government to provide some form of support to the volunteers of the province.
