The federal fisheries minister says they are making progress in terms of science as it relates to seals in Atlantic Canada, and she’s confident that they will find markets for 100 per cent of the animal.
The Atlantic Seal Science Task Force has presented its report to Minister Joyce Murray, and she wasted no time in accepting the recommendation that a Seal Summit be held this fall.
The markets for seal products all but dried up some time ago but Minister Murray is confident that they can be restored once the science is in.
She says her goal is to have all of the seal used as there are many ways that the fishery can provide processing jobs and jobs from various aspects of the seal.
