The provincial government exceeded its target of schools interested in the pre-Kindergarten pilot program.
The program will see 600 learning spaces developed province-wide, with the goal of expanding that to 3,100 by 2025.
Education Minister Tom Osbourne says they initially aimed to get 20 schools involved, but were able to extend it to over 30 schools.
He says there’s no lack of interest elsewhere in the province either.
Osborne says they know parents in other communities are looking to have pre-K programs as soon as they are able to expand. He says plans are already in motion to extend the program to more schools next year.
