The Ennis Sisters are set to release a brand new album to coincide with their 25th-anniversary tour set to begin next week.
An official release date for the album, On We Go, has not been set yet, however, the group says it will be sometime this month.
The group says the album was mostly recorded during the second COVID lockdown in the province last year.
They say Allan Doyle became involved in its production, and they recorded it at the inn by Mallard Cottage in Quidi Vidi Village—which they had turned into a temporary recording studio.
One of the tracks on the album will be ‘Where I Come From,’ which was co-written with Perry Chafe.
Maureen Ennis describes the inspiration behind that song.
She thinks back to when the sisters moved to Nashville, and how they would listen to VOCM’s Irish Newfoundland Show and those songs would connect them back home. Ennis says it would make the week easier and the homesickness would subside. Those times, she says, is what inspired the song.
The Ennis Sisters’ 25th-anniversary tour across the island kicks off in Gander this Monday, then moves through Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook, before finishing off at the Holy Heart Theatre in St. John’s next Saturday.
