Heritage NL has given a boost to twenty projects across the province geared towards the preservation of traditional skills at risk.
The projects pair a learner with an experienced craftsperson with funding through the one-on-one Heritage NL Mentor-Apprentice Program. Up to $10,000 is available to support the teaching of endangered crafts and skills.
The projects range from traditional beading, blacksmithing, coopering, bodhran making, komatik building, letterpress printing, Mi’kmaq moccasins, millinery, and wriggle fence building among others.
