The Conservation Corps Newfoundland and Labrador is stressing the importance of getting messages out to children early about how they can protect the environment.
The organization made a presentation to grade two students at Beachy Cove Elementary in Portugal Cove-St. Phillips yesterday.
Environmental Education Program Lead, Emily Cumming says it’s important to talk to kids about climate change early because they are “intrinsically aware of what is going on around them.”
She says if conversations about climate change are happening at the dinner table or on the news then children are taking those in. Cumming says it’s important to have honest conversations and acknowledge that growing up in a world impacted by climate change can be scary.
