RCMP dog services played a big role in safely locating a missing 60-year-old woman with dementia in the Clarenville area.
The woman was reported missing on Tuesday after last being seen walking a dog along the Trans Canada Highway.
Two police service dog teams, Sergeant Butler and “Kaos” and Corporal Bushey and “Kane” were training in the St. John’s region when they were dispatched to help in the search.
An extensive ground search was conducted by the two teams along with members of the Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search and Rescue Team, with support from a plane provided by the provincial government.
The woman and her dog were safely located by Corporal Bushey and Kane near the NL Power Substation in Clarenville. They were reported in good health and were reunited with their family.
