Newfoundland and Labrador’s Pushup Man is back at it again this summer in support of mental health.
Every year Bill Guiney takes to the streets to walk and do pushups, raising awareness and funds for mental health along the way.
Last year, Guiney walked from Port aux Basque to Signal Hill, doing ten push ups for every kilometer travelled. He gained tons of support from people deciding to walk with him and raised money for the Canadian Mental Health Association.
This year, Guiney’s efforts will focus on the Irish Loop. He will be doing 10km walks in 5 different communities in and around his hometown.
Guiney knows his challenges are important to open dialogue on mental health, and to let people know that they aren’t the only ones going through it.
Guiney talks about his daughter’s past mental health issues. He goes on to say that if mental health is an open book, nobody will feel alone.
