Daybreak Parent Child Centre, a non-profit childcare centre, is celebrating 50 years in the community.
The staff of Daybreak held an open house at their location on The Boulevard. Parents, children and government representatives gathered to celebrate Daybreak and check out their programs.
Renee Williams, the executive director, spoke with many parents throughout the day.
Williams says that it is all about breaking down barriers. She says knowing that they have a positive impact on people’s lives is wonderful to hear.
One of these parents is Maggie Dwyer. She was introduced to Daybreak by her mother and now takes her own daughter years later.
Dwyer sees the positive impact that the program had on her sister, no doubt hoping the same for her daughter. Dwyer says her sister had a great relationship with the staff after she was done with the program. Dwyer says she even cooks meals that were served to her in Daybreak to this day.
