Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day, and First Light is celebrating with ceremonies and activities throughout the day in the St. John’s region.
Events began bright and early with a sunrise ceremony at Cavell Park in downtown St. John’s.
Later, celebrations will take place at the Techniplex starting at 2 p.m. with a family festival.
That will be followed by a gathering — Mawi’omi — from 4-8 p.m. featuring drumming, singing, dancing, and more.
