Food First NL has launched the capital city’s very first food action plan.
The plan lays out a series of ideas and initiatives to help strengthen the local food system through to 2025 and beyond.
Program Co-Ordinator with Food First NL, Sarah Crocker says one of the initiatives is a local mobile food market to help address both transportation and grocery costs.

Crocker says it will involve some pop-up food markets thoughout the capital city through the late summer months and into the fall.
A city-wide household food survey received more than 1,000 responses, with cost of living and affordability concerns showing prominently.
90 per cent of those who responded, according to Food First NL, reported dissatisfaction with the food that they could obtain in the capital city.
