RCMP confirm two men are dead and one person was seriously injured following a head-on collision on the Trans Canada near the Blue Canoe Campground on the weekend.
The crash near Springdale forced the shut down of the highway for several hours on Saturday morning as emergency responders attended to the scene.
Police say the driver and lone occupant of one of the vehicles, a 64-year-old man, died at the scene. The 19-year-old driver of the second vehicle and his passenger were taken to hospital, where the young driver later died of his injuries.
Roads were wet at the time of the crash, with periods of heavy rain and water build-up on the highway.
The investigation continues.
