Premier Andrew Furey believes there should be limits put on campaign donations to political parties.
Furey says he has had conversations about the situation with Justice Minister John Hogan.
Currently, there are no limits on the amount of money that can be contributed, and Furey says there’s “no question” that such rules should be in place to reflect “the current state of democracy across the country.”
He notes that there is an electoral reform committee in place and they will continue to explore options for campaign finance reform. He admits the province is behind and needs to catch up.
