Mount Pearl municipal workers, represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees are holding a rally this afternoon during the regular meeting of Mount Pearl city council.
President of CUPE Local 2099, Ken Turner says they want concessions and two-tier proposals made by the city removed from the bargaining table in addition to what he calls a fair wage adjustment.
Turner says the union will not accept a collective agreement that doesn’t provide the same rights and benefits for all workers and a “reasonable wage adjustment.”
The union is hoping to avoid a possible strike or lockout which could happen as early as Monday, July 4th.
