One of several people charged in connection with a rash of recent gun violence and a stabbing in metro St. John’s has been arrested and released again.
20-year-old Robert Belbin was picked up this week and charged with breaching conditions of his release.
Belbin is charged with aggravated assault and robbery with violence in connection with a stabbing on George Street, while the others face weapons charges ranging from trafficking to possession and careless use of illegal guns.
The arrests were made in late May on the heels of incidents which also saw the lobby of an apartment building sprayed with bullets, and a house shot at and firebombed.
Police say a recent shooting in the Goulds is also linked to the case.
A number of illegally-owned firearms were also seized from the Brookfield Road area of the city.
Belbin was released on conditions again today, and is due back in court on the original charges on July 12.
