Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro has been seeing a significant uptick with its electric vehicle charging stations.
Hydro CEO Jennifer Williams says they plan on adding 19 new charging stations this year in partnership with Newfoundland Power under the Take Charge Program.
Those will go in areas such as Labrador and the Northern Peninsula.
Williams says the stations that are currently in operation are getting lots of use.
She says enough energy to travel 240,000 kms was supplied last year, which is the equivalent of making the trip from St. John’s to Vancouver 33 times. Williams says she has seen a lot of tourists driving electric vehicles, so she notes there is a great tourism opportunity there for the province as well.
