St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen isn’t ruling out a potential run for leader of the provincial PC Party.
Pressed today by reporters, Breen stressed his focus is squarely on his job as mayor and the well-being of the city and its residents, adding while the leadership might be on his mind, it’s not top of mind.
He was also asked whether he’s done any polling on his chances, and quipped that the only polling he’s conducted is the informal kind during his trips to Costco.
Breen ran as the Tory candidate in a 2014 by-election for the district of Virginia Waters, but lost by 40 votes to Liberal Cathy Bennett.
So far, Terra Nova MHA Lloyd Parrott is the only declared candidate for the PC leadership which will be decided in October 2023.
