Residents of L’anse au Loup in southeastern Labrador have an unusual, and unwelcome, surprise.
A dead humpback has washed up on the beach in the community.
Kevin Normore of the local harbour authority says the carcass washed up on the beach sometime overnight Thursday or Friday.
The concern for residents is that if something is not done, the carcass will continue to deteriorate and become a serious problem for the town.
The local town council is coming up with a plan to get a longliner to tow the bloated whale out and away from the community.
