A 36-year-old man from West Bay is facing charges stemming from an investigation into alleged online sexual child exploitation.

The RCMP-RNC Integrated Internet Child Exploitation Team arrested and charged Kyle Hillier after a search warrant was executed on his home in November of 2021.

The search came following two separate reports of online child exploitation received from the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre in Ottawa.

A number of electronic items were seized and sent for forensic analysis.

That has resulted in charges of possessing and accessing child pornography, and two counts of transmission of child pornography.

Hillier, who was charged on Tuesday, has been released on conditions to appear in Stephenville Provincial court on September 26.
