VOCM is teaming up with the Single Parent Association for the return of the Block the Bus fundraiser.

The fundraiser, which collects donations of school supplies, will support over 400 children registered for the back-to-school program through the Single Parent Association.

Sonya Smith, Executive Director of the Single Parent Association, says with the increased cost of living, there is a high demand for help with purchasing items like school supplies.

Smith says purchasing school supplies is especially difficult for parents with one income. She says donations of new supplies for kids in need gives them confidence as they head back to school.

Donation bins for the Block the Bus campaign will be located throughout the Village Shopping Centre from now until August 19.

On August 19, VOCM will be live from the Village Shopping Centre to pack a Metrobus full with school supplies.
