The Clean Harbours Initiative is getting a boost after funding from government.
$20,000 is going to the Clean Harbours Initiative to help the organization refit a boat, making that five vessels in the fleet.
The initiative has taken over 200,000 pounds of trash out of the province’s waters, along with 3,200 car tires.
Co-founder Shawn Bath of Twillingate, formerly a commercial diver, says anything that sinks ends up going overboard, and they’ve seen it all.
They’re concentrating on St Croix’s Bay near Long Harbour for their next cleanup.
