A contract has been awarded for the remediation of the new adult correctional facility.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure has awarded a contract for $550,000 to Bursey Excavating and Development to start remediation at the proposed site.
The new facility, set to replace Her Majesty’s Penitentiary, is planned to have 264 inmates, with 12 beds for community reintegration. The proposal for the new facility from Avalon Corrections Partners is due later this year.
The remediation work at the intersection of Harding Road and East White Hills Road is expected to finish later this year.
