The Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture is opening several forest access roads in the area of Paradise Lake and the Bay d’Espoir Highway so that owners can check on cabins, campers and other property.
While the Bay d’Espoir Highway, or Route 360, remains open to traffic, not all forest access roads or cabins are accessible due to the recent fires in the region.
Officials are advising owners to go over the map below to determine whether they can get to their property.
Closed forest access roads are in yellow, with the two active fires shown in white crosshatch lines.
The red STOP symbols are at points where it is currently unsafe for the public to go any further.
People who use the newly opened forest access roads are urged to proceed with caution, and be aware that crews continue to fight forest fires in the broader area.
