Eastern Health is now accepting submissions for the name of the new adult mental health and addictions facility.
The facility is currently under construction at the Health Sciences Centre, with framework currently being erected, and plumbing , mechanical, and electrical work ongoing through the rest of the year. The new facility is set to be opened in 2024.
President and Interim CEO of Eastern Health, Kenneth Baird, says the new building presents an opportunity to deliver services in a modern and therapeutic facility.
As such, he says they are seeking a name that represents hope, recovery, and support for those who will receive treatment there.
Letters of interest seeking submissions for the name have been sent to relevant community partners.
The health authority notes that suggestions should not include a person’s name as the facility will not be named after an individual.
The deadline for submissions is September 30.
From there, a committee will narrow down the suggestions to a top three, which will then be presented to government for a final decision.
