The return of the VOCM Block the Bus campaign was a success.
The campaign, in support of the Single Parent Association, collected enough school supplies to fill a Metrobus.
Donations of school supplies and monetary donations collected will be used to support over 500 children as they return to school.
Sonya Smith, Executive Director of the Single Parent Association, says there was a waitlist for the back-to-school program, but because of Block the Bus donations, every child will have new supplies for the school year.
She says every child in need will be ready for the new school year. She thanks everyone who donated as much as a pack of crayons to those who made cash donations.
Today’s live broadcast was the closing event of a four-week campaign hosted at the Village Shopping Centre.
Donation bins are at the Village throughout the weekend, and monetary donations are still being accepted at spanl.ca.
