If you’re in the Hopeall area today, there’s a young man donating his time and efforts for a very good cause.
Nine-year-old Luke Reid of nearby Green’s Harbour has set up a booth in a local pasture to raise money for the Newfoundland Pony Society.
That’s where you can find Luke from 1-4 p.m. selling his wares, including water, pop, chips, bars and candy, to raise funds for the care and well-being of the rare breed.
The society recently garnered almost $4,000 to help a west coast woman who had a pony put down due to over-feeding by strangers.
Pony owners in the Bonavista area say they are dealing with the same issue this weekend.
The society is again urging people to admire but not feed the ponies and other horses.
