The Corpus Christi Parish in St. John’s will be closing its doors to parishioners for the final time this weekend.
The church, located on Waterford Bridge Road near Bowring Park, is closing after being sold as part of efforts by the Roman Catholic Church to sell off its assets to settle sex abuse claims by the victims of the Mount Cashel Orphanage.
According to information on the church’s website, an attempt was made to buy the church property but they were unsuccessful.
A closing mass will be celebrated at the church Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
