Congratulatory messages are pouring in for a para-athlete who won Team NL’s only medal in week 2 of the Canada Games.
Cori Hicks from Flat Bay competed in the 400-metre female wheelchair race, crossing the finish line in less than one minute and fifty-three seconds.
Hicks won silver in the event and was named Team NL’s Flagbearer for the closing ceremonies.
This isn’t the first time Hicks has had athletic success. The multi-sport athlete took home gold in para sit-skiing at the 2018 Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games.
Hicks’ silver medal was one of nine medals won by TeamNL during the 2022 Canada Games.
