There were no injuries in a recent near-miss on the Hibernia platform.
The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board says Hibernia Management and Development Company reported an incident that occurred on August 17th.
Workers were moving a 711 kg elevated feeder machine bridge adapter plate using a certified sling which was rated for over 2,000 kg, when the sling failed.
The plate dropped approximately 4.8 metres to the adjacent mezzanine deck below. An investigation into the root cause of the failure has been initiated.
