The provincial government is upping the offer it’s making to family physicians interested in setting up practice in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Last October, the provincial government announced that new family practice physicians who set up in the province and stay in the community for five years will be eligible for $100,000 dollars.
Health Minister Tom Osborne says that the offer has now been topped up to $150,000 dollars to give this province a more competitive advantage.
He says they had several physicians sign up with the $100,000 dollar incentive, but they want to remain competitive and after scanning what’s happening in other jurisdictions decided to up the offer.
