Provincial Labour Minister Bernard Davis is offering his thanks to the workers of Newfoundland and Labrador for their efforts in building a strong workforce.
He says Labour Day is a time to reflect and recognized the workforce a the backbone of communities and thanks them for the many protections and benefits for which they fought which all Canadians now enjoy.
Opposition Leader David Brazil says so many workers stepped up over the last two years to provide the services we all need and says “we owe them all a debt of gratitude for their contributions” to society and the economy.
The President of the NL Federation of Labour is wishing everyone a very happy Labour Day.
Mary Shortall says all workers have earned the right to a long weekend spent with family and friends and she salutes the many workers who are still on the job on this holiday Monday.
A lot of essential and front-line workers will continue to work and provide services on Labour Day, “proof positive that the world needs workers” says Shortall. She wishes everyone well and urges people to stay safe.
