A professional wrestler from this province may have hit the biggest slam of his career recently after being announced as one of the winners of the Wrestling Academie program.
Chris Dillon, also known by his ring name Moondog Dylan Davis, began wrestling in 2006 – competing in matches across Canada and the United States, and becoming a mainstay in this province.
Last year, Dillon was invited to compete in the program by founder Jacques Rougeau, who’s best known for his work in the WWF as a member of The Fabulous Rougeaus, The Quebecers, and as singles wrestler The Mountie.
As part of his winnings, Dillon has received a 14-week scholarship to train at The Nightmare Factory. That facility serves as the official training grounds for All Elite Wrestling, one of the largest pro wrestling organizations in North America.
As well, the win gives Dillon the opportunity to be featured at AEW’s TV tapings in Toronto in October, and the chance to share a locker room with wrestling’s biggest names such as Chris Jericho and Jon Moxley
The chance to compete on such an international stage is something that hasn’t been achieved locally since Sailor White competed in the WWWF in the 1980s as a member of the Moondogs, a fact that isn’t lost on Dillon.
Dillon says he has a lot on the line and a lot to prove. He says it is almost overwhelming at times to think that such an opportunity is finally happening.
