Marine Atlantic is playing catch-up as it works to get the MV Highlanders back into service after some mechanical issues.
Because of the disruption, the Atlantic Vision has been taken from the Argentia route and placed on the Port aux Basques run. That means some crossings between North Sydney and Argentia are being scrubbed.
Darrell Mercer, a spokesman for the company, says the Gulf ferries have been busier than even the year before the pandemic. Supply chain issues have made it difficult acquiring the parts including the generator.
As a result, the Highlanders may not be back on the water until next week.
They can move a whole lot more traffic through Port aux Basques than they can through Argentia hence the decision to move the Vision to the southwest coast.
