Beagle Paws was one of the many places affected by flooding from torrential rains dumped on the Avalon by the remnants of Hurricane Earl.
The rescue group’s shelter near Cochrane Pond was flooded by water that came up through the floors.
Shelter manager Sandra Woito says, fortunately, the three dogs living in the shelter had elevated beds and were able to get up and out of the inch or two of water on the ground.
She says the three dogs are now being fostered until the shelter is cleaned up.
In the meantime, their first order of business following the clean-up is the purchase of a sump pump to prevent that type of thing from happening again.
