The PC Opposition is shaking up its shadow cabinet.
Leader David Brazil says the change is to ensure they are focused on priorities that need the government’s attention, with the key areas being seniors, youth, poverty reduction, cost of living, state of health care, and the need for job growth.
Brazil is adding Industry, Energy, and Technology to his plate while there are a number of other changes across the board.
Lloyd Parrott, who announced his candidacy for the party leadership, is stepping down from his shadow cabinet positions, as is common practice.
Changes to Shadow Cabinet:
- David Brazil takes on Industry, Energy and Technology in addition to Intergovernmental Affairs and his role as Opposition Leader.
- Barry Petten adds Children and Youth Services as well as the Public Procurement Agency to his responsibility for Education.
- Helen Conway Ottenheimer joins the Public Accounts Committee and adds Indigenous Affairs and Reconciliation and Labrador Affairs to her responsibilities for Justice and Public Safety, the Attorney General, Women and Gender Equality, and Francophone Affairs.
