A wave of relief has washed over the Northeast Avalon as the RNC has confirmed that a man wanted in connection with three shootings in Conception Bay South is now in custody.
Secure schools protocols were put in place, and residents of the Northeast Avalon were asked to secure in place as they conducted a search for the suspect.
An alert went out identifying 31-year-old Matthew Jeremy Fowler as the man wanted in connection with the incidents.
All warnings were subsequently lifted when Fowler was taken into custody in a police operation in the area of St. Thomas’ Line. Road closures were in effect in the area of Paradise Road, Dogberry Hill Road and St. Thomas’ Line in Paradise as police continued their investigation.
RNC says officers responded to the first incident around 10:25 a.m. following a shooting on Uplands Road. A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and police learned that a suspect had fled in area in a vehicle.
At 11:10 a.m police were called to St. Clare’s Hospital after a man showed up at the emergency with a gunshot wound that had been suffered in an incident on Greeleytown Road in CBS.
At 1:00 p.m. officers responded to a third shooting on Peachytown Road in CBS. That report remains under investigation.
Police are reminding the public of supports for those who have experienced trauma as a result of the communication related to the shooting events today, to contact 8-1-1 to seek mental health support.

The RNC is advising all traffic to avoid the area of Dogberry Hill Road and St. Thomas’ Line from Paradise to St. Philips.
It’s in connection with the ongoing investigation into three shootings in the CBS area today.
Police have identified 31-year-old Matthew Jeremy Fowler, who is described as six feet, five inches tall, 200 pounds, with tattoos around his neck.
Fowler has dark hair and brown eyes and is believed to be travelling in a black Subaru Legacy JFH 710.
Police are advising residents of the Northeast Avalon to shelter in place, meaning people should remain in their residence, work, or indoors, with entrances secured, while police search for the suspect.
Schools throughout the Northeast Avalon are in secure school mode. Secure schools means that student and staff movement is restricted throughout the school building. Parents are asked not to go to the schools. Regular instruction continues.
At least two people have suffered what police call serious injuries as the result of three shootings in CBS. One occurred in the Uplands Road area of Chamberlains, and another on Greelytown Road in Foxtrap.
RNC are issuing up-to-the-minute updates on the unfolding incident via Twitter.
CBS Mayor Darrin Bent is not commenting on the situation at this time as the situation continues to unfold.
