The lone suspect in Thursday’s shootings in CBS made his first appearance in provincial court this morning.
31-year-old Matthew Fowler was quiet and subdued as he was escorted from the holding cells to the courtroom at Atlantic Place.
The initial appearance only lasted a couple of minutes, to formally the read the charges, and he was returned to jail pending another appearance this afternoon.
Fowler is facing at least 15 charges including gun offences and aggravated assault against one man according to RNC Constable James Cadigan.
Other charges include assault with a weapon, careless use of a firearm, possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, unauthorized possession of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
More charges are anticipated this afternoon involving a second shooting victim.
Both are said to have received non-life-threatening injuries.
VOCM will have more details following Fowler’s second court appearance at 2 p.m.
