Canship Ugland says it is focusing on the family of a crew member on board a pilot boat who died after ending up in the water just outside St. John’s Harbour.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight yesterday morning.
Police say the 61-year-old victim went overboard as the pilot boat was meeting up with another vessel that was coming into port.
The President of Canship Ugland, Marco Ahrens, says they are continuing to support their employees and affected family members.
The CEO of the Atlantic Pilotage Authority, Sam Griffiths, says they are deeply saddened by the death of a friend and crew member.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada, Occupational Health and Safety and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are involved in the investigation.
