After two years of cancellations caused by COVID restrictions, events are slowly starting to ramp up at the Mary Brown’s Centre.
A number of big-name acts have taken to the concert stage at the Mary Brown’s Centre in recent months including Blue Rodeo, ZZ Top, and Sting, and staff is ready for the upcoming hockey and basketball seasons with the Growlers’ home opener scheduled for October 21.
CEO of St. John’s Sports and Entertainment, Jill Brewer, says the pandemic was a tough time, and it will take some more time before the promoters get back to booking acts like they did pre-pandemic.
In the meantime, patrons will notice one big change, new seating which was installed over the summer months. Brewer says the $1.25 million seats were needed and had been budgeted for some time.
The original seats were over 20 years old and parts were no longer available for repairs. She says the new seats are more comfortable and durable, and they include cup holders.
