The Town of Port aux Basques is allowing residents to enter areas heavily damaged by Hurricane Fiona tonight.’
Mayor Brian Button says residents who live on Water Street East, Feltham Avenue and Clement Crescent can enter their homes with escorts to grab personal items and perishable food items until around 7:30 p.m.
In addition to that, Mayor Button is urging residents who live on Water Street East and Feltham Avenue to be at their homes at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow.
He says an electrician will be on-site to check panel boxes to see if power can be restored to those houses. He says they have done a fair amount of work on those streets, and are at the point where they need to get them back on the grid.
