Memorial University’s art wall near Burton’s Pond is being transformed into a beautification project in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Mi’kmaq Artist Marcus Gosse is on-site for three days, working on a 13 by 18 foot mural entitled ‘The Strength Mural’.
The mural features a painting of a whale alongside a number of Indigenous cultural references, including the circle of life.
Gosse says the mural serves as a historical reminder so the past is not repeated.
He says the mural honours a variety of cultures throughout the province coming together as one.
